Looking towards base from Mt. Suribach. The beaches to the right of the image are the "Invasion Beaches" where the US forces came ashore on February 19, 1945. The road that runs across the bottom of the photo is the road that climbs Mt. Suribachi. The road that runs from the lower left to the upper right of the image is the island perimeter road.
